Position Title: Behavioral Health Counselor
Department: Behavioral Health
Reports To: Behavorial Health Team Lead
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
$30 To $39.78 Per Hour
Position Summary
The Behavioral Health Counselor provides mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults. The Behavioral Health Counselor is responsible for managing an assigned caseload, conducting assessments and voluntary pre-screenings, providing psychotherapy and crisis intervention, maintaining accurate clinical documentation, and collaborating with clients, families, and community resources to support positive outcomes.
Essential Functions
· Provide diagnostic evaluations, psychotherapy, prevention, consultation, and education to clients
· Conduct intake interviews, including initial diagnosis and disposition
· Obtain and review relevant information from collateral sources
· Provide voluntary pre-screenings as appropriate
· Provide mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults
· Maintain and manage an assigned caseload
· Provide case management services as needed
· Provide crisis intervention when needed
· Maintain complete and accurate progress notes and clinical documentation
· Accurately document and bill all applicable client contacts
· Collaborate and consult with clients, families, healthcare providers, and community resources
· Participate in ongoing education and professional development
· Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
· Education: Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field
· Experience: Experience as an LPC or LCSW preferred
· Licensure/Certifications:
· Active Virginia LPC or LCSW license (required)

Working Conditions
· Behavioral health and clinical outpatient setting
· Frequent interaction with clients, families, healthcare providers, and community resources
· May work with individuals experiencing emotional or behavioral crises
· May encounter stressful or emotionally challenging situations
· Work environment may include children, adolescents, and adults with varying behavioral health needs
· Occasional schedule adjustments based on patient and organizational needs
